Pandas Vs. Skunks
Start: January 25, 2012 End: February 24, 2012Held at: January 25 – February 24, 2012
Gallary Reception: Thursday, February 16, 4–6pm
Tim Winn and Zehra Khan create multi-media installations and performance, but consider drawing to be their primary medium. Their newest installation, Pandas vs. Skunks: A Civil War Story, will be created onsite at the Higgins Gallery. Art students, dancers, theater students, history classes, and all curious are encouraged to participate.
Last year was the 150th anniversary of the American Civil War. The sesquicentennial provides the opportunity to reflect on the importance of this pivotal period in our nation`s history, and to consider whether the issues fought for over the battlefields are still tangible today.
With a good deal of humor, the exhibit will illustrate a contemporary civil war reenactment, complete with bleachers full of spectators. All participants are animal characters, and the project will include costumed participants. The final project will consist of the installation, documentary photographs of a live performance, and short films.
See Them At Work
Artists Tim Winn and Zehra Khan will be working at the Higgins Art Gallery Mondays through Thursdays, from 11am to 4pm, during the time of the exhibition. Any interested in participating are welcome to stop by.
